The Niagara University women’s track and field team is back in action on Saturday to compete in the Wolfie Invitational starting at 10 a.m.

Morgan Palmer continued her strong freshman campaign with two top-10 finishes at the 2017 ROC City Classic on April 9. Palmer claimed first place in the discus throw, out-throwing the field with a 40.09m toss in her second attempt. Palmer set a personal record in the shot put in her second toss. Her toss went 11.58m, which was fourth best on the day. Maggie Gerard had a ninth placed finish (33.47m) in the discus throw and finished sixth with a distance of 11.31min the shot put. Also during the ROC City Classic, Mara Skordynski’s personal best time of 26.51 placed her 14th in the 200m. Kelly Nichols followed in 17th place (26.66) and Akira Thornton in 20th (26.76). Skordynski placed seventh place in the 400 dash with a time of 1:00.70. Alex Laubert set a school record time in the 100m hurdles, running the event in 16.03 for a seventh place finish. Palmer set a school record in the discus throw en route to claiming first place in the event at the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invite. Palmer’s fourth throw went 40.95m. Gerard finished seventh in the discus throw with a personal best of 34.40m. Freshman Elizabeth Suhay had a top-10 placement in the long jump. Suhay finished 10th (4.81m).

Three Purple Eagles – Jamie Guadagno, Maggie Gerard and Alex Laubert – finished in the top-10 in their respective events at the 22nd Annual Monmouth Season Opener. Jamie Guadagno placed ninth in the long jump (4.75m), Maggie Gerard finished the shot put in ninth place (11.82m), and freshman Alex Laubert ran the 100m hurdles in 16.62 which was good enough for eighth place.
