Doris Creola Schumacher passed away on Sunday April 9, 2017 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Born in Buffalo on April 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Paul P. and Alpha Ursitti Creola.

Doris graduated from SUNY Teachers College at Buffalo in 1951, and worked as an Elementary School Teacher at Anna Merritt Elementary School for 25 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the NY Retired Teachers’ Association, the Keenagers, the Kenan Art Council, the Red Hats, the Progressive Mothers Club, the Dale Association and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed traveling and had traveled extensively all over the world, playing bridge, going to the Casino, gardening, feeding the birds and reading. Doris was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Charles William Schumacher.

Doris is survived by her children, Susan (Douglas) Diemert, Beth (Keith Lindamer) Schumacher, Gretchen (Paul) Minutello and Leslie (Joseph) Granchelli; grandmother of Kathryn (Nicholas) Diemert-Carlisle, Charles Diemert, Jillian (Jon) Staines, Hilary Genewick, Lydia Genewick, Ava Minutello, Tessa Granchelli and Patrick Granchelli; great grandmother of Elias Staines, Samuel Pierce, Vanessa Pierce and Cooper Endres. Doris was the sister of Marjorie (David) Mix and the late Ruth MacDonald; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday April 12th 4-8 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday April 13th at 10 AM in Christ Community Church, 140 Genesee Street, Lockport. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Park. Memorials to the American Heart Association or to a Charity of One’s Choice.
