DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Buffalo State College cheerleading team finished in 12th place at the 2017 National Cheerleading Association (NCA) College Nationals on Friday evening at the Bandshell beachside venue in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The Bengals finished Thursday’s preliminary round with a score of 80.75 which was good for 14th place and a trip to the championships.  Buffalo State improved with its run in the finals, scoring 84.57 points which bumped the Bengals up to a 12th-place finish in the teams’ first time competing at the Bandshell venue.

Davenport University took home the tournament’s top prize for the third-straight year, followed by Bridgewater State, Elmira, Montclair State and SUNY Cortland to round out the top five.

The event will be the final competition for the Bengals for the 2016-17 season.  The team will again compete at Daytona Beach next year.
