RICHMOND, Va. – The University at Buffalo finished off the Fred Hardy Invite on Saturday. The Bulls added several more first place finishes at the meet.

The men’s 800m participants had outstanding performances that ended with a new school record and new personal bests. Tyler Scheving led the way for the Bulls, coming in first with a time of 1:48.37. His time sets a new school record in the event. Directly behind him were teammates Brian Crimmins and Craig Kaiser. Crimmins clocked in at 1:48.67 for second and a new personal best, while Kaiser clocked in at 1:49.56 for third and a new personal best as well.

The success did not stop there for the Bulls. Joshua Gali proved to be an impressive force on the track;n placing first in two different events. Gali’s time of 11.13 in the 100m dash put him just ahead of teammate Mitchell Fuller who clocked in at 11.44 for second. Gali also clocked in at 21.37 in the 200m dash for first. Not far behind was teammate Mitchel Moore. Moore clocked in at 22.03 for third place in the event. The Bulls also saw a first place finish from freshman Stephanie Ward. Ward clocked in at 9:48.28 in the 3000m; while Morgan Mahoney finished the race in 10:11.98 for third place.

Tyra Forbes led the way for the Bulls in the 100m dash. The Bulls took second through fourth. Forbes clocked in at 12.41 for second, Amy Villarini at 12.82 for third, and Christine Lyttle at 12.87 for fourth. The men’s 4X400 Relay team of Craig Kaiser, Thomas Meehan, Brian Crimmins, and Tyler Scheving also had a third place finish. The team was able to work to a final time of 3:17.58.

The field events saw similar success as well. Freshman Sam Wray threw to a first place finish in the men’s discus with a distance of 50.38m. Miranda Daucher and Jess Dhaliwall were successful in the women’s discus as well. Daucher placed second with a distance of 49.10m, while Dhaliwall placed fourth with a distance of 43.68m. The men had first place finish in the long jump. Christian Doherty jumped to a distance of 7.08m. Martine Bye added a first place finish in the women’s javelin. Bye threw for a distance of 44.25m.

“This was a good opener for our team,” said head coach Vicki Mitchell. “Getting our first look and feel for the outdoor track and field events is exciting; and coming home with several first place finishes and one new school record gives us momentum going forward. Staying healthy and consistent is key to our success.”

The Bulls’ next competition is April 7-8 when they split to go to the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invite and Sam Howell Invite.
