NIAGARA UNIV. — The Niagara men’s soccer team announced its five-game spring schedule in preparation for the 2017 season on Thursday. The spring schedule includes four games at Niagara Field starting on Sunday, March 26 at 2 p.m. against Guelph University.
The Purple Eagles begin the month of April against the Canadian Vaughn Soccer Club on Sunday, April 2 at 7 p.m. Niagara will host crosstown rival Canisius for a 5 p.m. match on Saturday, April 8.
Niagara wraps up its home slate for the 2017 spring schedule on Wednesday, April 19 at 5 p.m. against the Mercyhurst University Lakers. NU, then, heads to Olean, New York to face St. Bonaventure at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 23.
In their first season under head coach Bill Boyle, the Purple Eagles finished tied for eighth in the MAAC with a 3-6-1 conference record (4-11-2 overall) after being picked 11th in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll. 2016 season was highlighted by a 4-0 non-conference win over Robert Morris in the season opener and a 1-0 overtime victory over MAAC regular-season champion Quinnipiac.
