PENDLETON — A 10-year-old died this afternoon after being trapped in a pile of snow.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, initial investigation shows he was digging a tunnel into the snow pile when it collapsed on him at approximately 3:40 p.m. He was taken by Twin City Ambulance to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The incident is being investigated by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau but appears to be accidental.
The name of the child is being withheld until family members can be notified.
