The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is down one cent from last week to $2.30 per gallon. One year ago, the price was $1.93. The New York State average is now at $2.43 per gallon, down two cents from last week. A year ago, the NYS average was $2.00.

Locally, the price of gasoline in Buffalo dropped a penny to $2.41, while the price in Rochester stayed the same at $2.35.

There’s a bit of a decline in gas prices as most areas drop by a penny or so as predicted by OPIS (Oil Price Information Service.) During a conference call with AAA on Friday, OPIS officials said they expect prices to dip slightly over the next week before the anticipated rise through April. Refineries are looking to use up the winter supply of gasoline and run the tanks down before shifting to the summer blend, which is more expensive. OPIS lowered its projections for 2017 and now does not expect the national average price of gasoline to exceed the $2.50-$2.75 range this year.
