
WILLIAMSVILLE — The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team got back to its winning ways this afternoon with a 7-0 sweep of St. Francis (PA). The win improves the Bulls to 6-3 on the year.
With St. Francis (PA) featuring just five players, UB picked up wins by default at third doubles and six singles. Tanja Stojanovska and Margarita Kotok picked up a 6-3 win at first doubles and Chantal Martinez Blanco and Anna Savchenko won again at second doubles, 6-2.
UB won all five of its matches played at singles in straight sets beginning with a 6-1, 7-5 from Stojanovska at one. Martinez Blanco won 6-4, 6-0 at two and fellow sophomore Mercedes Losada Rubio won 7-5, 6-1 at three. Savchenko won 6-1, 6-3 at four and Emel Abibula won her match easily at five, 6-0, 6-3.
The Bulls will now be off until March 22 when they head to Charleston, SC for a pair of matches for Spring Break.
