WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Brian Higgins is asking for Amtrak’s help in assuring that Buffalo’s new train station is located back where Buffalo’s old train station was located.

The letter released today shows that Higgins asked Amtrak CEO Charles Moorman to “advocate Amtrak more forcefully and specifically advocate for the return of service to the Central Terminal,” saying it’s in Amtrak’s best interest to do so.

The letter follows below:

Higgins, who has long been a supporter of refurbishing Central Terminal, has stepped up his advocacy in the past year, following the September closure of the Exchange Street Amtrak station due to a collapsed ceiling.

A public meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday to discuss Buffalo’s train station future has been rescheduled to 5 – 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Buffalo Museum of Science.
