George Louis Solotes passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Born in Lockport, June 10, 1933, he was the son of the late John and Lena (Siracusa) Solotes. George served in the United States Army, 3rd Armored Cavalry, from Jan 14, 1953 – Jan 13, 1955, achieving the Rank of Corporal. He owned and operated George Solotes Builders for many years. He also worked in the family business, Lockport Broom Company. George loved working, building, helping others, tinkering with old cars, and more than anything else, spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Yvette Marie Schneider, whom he married on April 21, 1956 in Lockport, NY. Father of Denise Ann Wolfe (Daniel), Wayne Alan Solotes (Sandra), Stephanie Ann Perilli (Joseph); cherished Grandfather of Steven, Marissa, Rachel, Rick, Natalie, Jillian, Kaitlin, Amanda, Ashley and Nicholas; cherished Great Grandfather of Cole, Lyla, Kate, Moses and Isabel. George was the brother of Margaret and Matthew, and the late Agnes, Francis, William, Joseph, Russell and John; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday March 6th, 2-4 and 6-8 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 7th at 11 AM. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 67 Saxton Street, Lockport, NY or VA Western New York Health Care System, Willow Lodge, 3495 Bailey Ave, Buffalo, NY.
