Janis B. (Seabury) Gominiak, age 77, of Lockport, entered into rest on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport surrounded by her loving family. Born April 24, 1939 in Lockport, Janis is the daughter of the late: Carroll and Alma (Buckley) Seabury.

Janis graduated from Barker High School in 1957 and then went on to Bryant & Stratton College. Janis married Robert Gominiak February 4, 1961. They had been married for 56 years. She was a member of the Newfane United Methodist Church where she was involved in every aspect of the church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, baking and family gatherings. Sometimes referred to as “Kathy Kodak”, Janis also enjoyed photography.

Surviving is her husband, Robert and children: Carol (Tom) Smist, Paul (Debbie) Gominiak, Timothy (Christine) Gominiak, Julie (Harold) Miller, Dan Gominiak, Kate Gominiak (John First) and Rob Gominiak. Grandmother of 21 grandkids and 8 great grandchildren. Sister of: Margaret Seabury and the late John. Sister-in-law of: Marcia Seabury, Barbara Kramp, Tom (Carol) Gominiak, Dave (Norene) Gominiak and the late Edwin, Elizabeth and Jerry Gominiak. Janis is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue, Newfane, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Newfane United Methodist Church, 2699 Main Street, Newfane, NY on Friday at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Kim Smith officiating. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo R.C. Cemetery.
