ALBANY — State Sen. Rob Ortt has come down on the side of preservationists opposed to the building of a lodge on Goat Island.

Ortt, R-North Tonwanda, sent a letter to Gov. Andrew Cuomo voicing his concerns about the announced plans to build the lodge on the mostly-natural island. He released a statement to the press today, which included that letter.

The letter, which can be read below in its entirety, explains that Ortt supports “much needed public-private investments in the City of Niagara Falls” but opposes the Goat Island plan as it “runs contrary to the steps we’ve taken and the overall master plan for Falls development.”
