LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Purple Eagles women’s basketball team fell to Rider, 62-41, on Friday.

The Purple Eagles and the Broncs traded baskets in the first quarter. Although the score was tied twice in the first 10 minutes of play, Rider led Niagara, 13-9, at the end of the quarter. Two points from Stroemple and six points from Rampado gave Niagara a one-point lead, 17-16, with a little over seven and a half minutes left in the second quarter. The Broncs, however, held the Purple Eagles scoreless for the remainder of the quarter and went into halftime ahead of Niagara, 32-17.

Though four different players added points for Niagara in the third quarter, including four points from Stroemple, Rider extended its lead and was ahead of NU, 48-27, going into the final quarter of play. The Purple Eagles put up a strong effort in the fourth, with contributions from Rampado, Jamie Sherburne, Stroemple and Dagny Davidsdottir, but the Broncs came away with the 62-41 victory.

The Purple Eagles close out the regular season at Monmouth on Sunday at 2 p.m.
