BROCKPORT — Robert Liebel (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) raced to a pair of individual titles to help pace Buffalo State tie for fourth place at the eight-team SUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend at the College at Brockport.

Liebel captured the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.01 seconds and also crossed first in the 200-meter dash in 22.25 seconds which is tied for the 15th-best time in Division III entering today.
The Bengals finished 1-2 in the 400-meter dash, led by Mohamed Kouyate (Bronx/Dreamyard Prep) who set the facility record with the ninth-fastest time in Division III this season entering today, clocking 49.03 seconds. Cody Sikora (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) also secured All-SUNYAC honors as runner-up with a time of 49.49 seconds. Darren Thompson (Buffalo/St. Joe’s) was third in the 200-meter dash (22.76) and seventh in the 60-meter dash (7.17).

Chris Duhaney (Hempstead/Uniondale) crossed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.46). Cody Lambert (Kenmore/Kenmore West) was sixth in the heptathlon, breaking a 33-year-old school record with 4,093 points. Elijah Lawal (Duanesburg/Duanesburg) and Robert Alexis (Middletown/Middletown) finished seventh (1.85m) and eighth (1.85m) respectively in the high jump. James Willard (Albany/Albany) added an eighth-place showing in the 60-meter dash (7.18).
The final team scores were as follows: 1. Geneseo (177); 2. Cortland (170); 3. Brockport (99); T4. Buffalo State (58); T4. Oneonta (58); 6. Fredonia (35); 7. Plattsburgh (34); 8. Oswego (29).
Buffalo State earned two points in the all sports “Battle by the Lake” rivalry competition by finishing ahead of Fredonia.

Buffalo State will now wait on the selections for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Naperville, Ill. on March 10 and 11.
