BUFFALO — For the second straight week sophomore Chantal Martinez Blanco and freshman Anna Savchenko have been named the Mid-American Conference’s doubles team of the week.
Martinez Blanco and Savchenko continued to roll this past weekend as they won both of their matches at second doubles. On Saturday, they defeated Dina Hegab and Nicole Mitchell of Syracuse, 6-3, and then on Sunday they helped complete a clean sweep of doubles against Quinnipiac with a 6-3 win over Sitiliaa Renchei and Lalya Rodriguez. They are now a perfect 5-0 this season in dual matches and 7-2 overall on the year.
It was a perfect week for Savchenko, who also won both of her matches in singles this past week, including picking up the lone singles win at Syracuse. She also won at fifth singles against Quinnipiac.
The Bulls will remain home on Saturday afternoon when they host Binghamton at 1 p.m.
