BUFFALO — After a well-performed weekend; the University at Buffalo women’s track and field team have jumped up in the Northeast Regional rankings to surge ahead of Syracuse University. The most recent rankings put them at second, a new highest in program history after ranking third the past two weeks.
The rankings currently put them nearly 20 points ahead of Syracuse University, and directly behind Harvard. This second place ranking comes after a great weekend of performances that saw several personal records. Christine Lyttle is the most recent addition to Buffalo’s regionally ranked athletes. Lyttle hit a new personal best in the 60HH at the Deneault Invitational on Saturday when she clocked in at 8.48. She finished in third place at the competition; while also ranking fifth in the Northeast Region and second in the Mid-American Conference.
The Bulls have several other regionally ranked athletes for the women including Emma Siuciak who holds a first place ranking in the region and second in the MAC in the Pentathlon after crushing the school record at the Akron Invitational. Mikayla Pearce ranks second in the region and third in the MAC in the long jump.
The men remain second in the Northeast Region; with Joshua Gali remaining first in the 400m, second in the 200m, and second as a member of the 4X400 with teammates Gyasi Morris, Craig Kaiser, and Mitchell Moore. Ryan Cribbin also remains regionally ranked first in the shot put with teammate Devon Patterson ranked second. Kaishaun Cathey remains second in the region in the triple jump.
The Bulls will carry these rankings into the Indoor Mid-American Conference Championships that begin on Friday.
