BUFFALO — Connor Mergler (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) won his second title of the meet, finishing as the co-champion in the 200 free as Buffalo State finished up the second full day at the SUNYAC Championships tonight at the Flickinger Aquatic Center.

Mergler defended his title in the 200 free in a dead heat with Geneseo’s Jeff Doser, each posting a time of 1:40.22.  Mergler swam an NCAA B-cut time of 1:39.84 in the prelims. Dan Kuznetsov (Williamsville/Williamsville South) also competed in the finals in the 200 free, touching seventh (1:46.36). Mergler also joined Jake Brigham (Binghamton/Binghamton), Cody Wittmeyer (Boston/Hamburg) and Kyle Callan (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) to place fourth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:38.31. Wittmeyer and Tom DePasquale (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) were 10th (52.73) and 13th (53.04) respectively in the 100 fly.  Wittmeyer’s mark set the school record.
Justin Moser (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) and Dante Peters (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) scored on the 3-meter diving board, finishing 11th (429.95) and 15th (316.90) respectively. Tyler Minnick (Latham/Shaker) placed 15th in the 400 IM (4:41.10).

The SUNYAC Championships will conclude Saturday with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals starting at 5:30 p.m.
