BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo’s track and field team heads to the Zips Invite and Deneault Invite this upcoming weekend. This is their last meet before Indoor Conference Championships, which start on Friday, February 24 at Eastern Michigan. The Zips Invite and Deneault Invite are this Friday and Saturday.

The Bulls are coming off an extremely successful weekend, where three school records were broken. Barrett Kemp started the weekend off strong for the Bulls when he broke a 14-year-old school record in the 5000m. His time of 14:20.25 beat his own previous personal record by 18 seconds, and currently ranks fourth in the Mid-American Conference while also being a MAC Auto-qualifying time. The record breaking did not stop there; as Joshua Gali kept record streak going with two broken records this past weekend. Gali previously broke the 200m record two weeks ago at the Akron Invitational. This time around, Gali broke an individual record in the 400m and was a member of the record-breaking 4X400m team. Gali’s time in the 400m of 46.92 broke a record set in 2001, and currently ranks him first in the conference and 31st in the nation in the event. Gali was also a member of the record-breaking 4X400m team alongside teammates Gyasi Morris, Craig Kaiser, and Mitchell Moore. The team beat the old record, set in 2009, by three seconds.

The Bulls are looking to keep this success going as they travel to Akron, Ohio on Friday then to Ithaca, NY on Saturday.
