BUFFALO — On the third day of the MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships, Shawn Warner and Nicolas Winograd gave Niagara two more program record-setting performances, bringing the team to four new records set at this year’s championship event. Warner set the 400 IM record with a second-place finish in the finals at 3:59.24, while Andreas Rintel gave Niagara a second top-eight finisher with a career-best time of 4:07.18 in fifth place.

Nicolas Winograd also topped his program record in the 100 breaststroke that he set at the 2016 MAAC Championships. Winograd placed sixth in the finals with a time of 57.32.

On the women’s side, the Purple Eagles were able to place three swimmers in the top eight of the 100 fly, as Julia Casolo (third), Sydney Kligys (fourth), and Hannah Charlton (seventh) all advanced to the ‘A’ final.

With one day to go in the 2017 MAAC Championships, the Niagara women sit in sixth place with 220 points, just seven behind fifth-place Fairfield. The Niagara men are also in sixth place entering the final day of competition, eight points behind fifth-place Iona.
