BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo’s track and field team is traveling to Geneva, Ohio for the second time this season for the Spire D-I Invitational. The Bulls are coming off a very successful weekend at the Akron Invitational that left with two new school records, several personal records, and more than a few regional rankings.
The Bulls are heading into this competition with both teams being ranked in the Top-Five in the Northeast Region. The men took a solid fifth place ranking, closely behind Syracuse, Cornell, Northeastern, and Albany. While the women currently ranked third in the region, which is highest in program history. The women are currently behind Harvard and Connecticut, and sit above Syracuse.
Emma Siuciak and Joshua Gali broke a school record each for the Bulls at the Akron Invitational. Siuciak shattered the old record in the women’s pentathlon. Her score of 3855 was nearly 100 points more than the previous school record set in 2011 by Ajla Glavasevic. Siuciak’s score ranked her 25th in the National rankings and second in the Mid-American Conference. Siuciak also holds a regional ranking in the high jump, coming in fourth. Gali broke a ten-year-old school record in the 200m. He clocked in at 21.25 for the new record, and his time landed him ranked second in the Northeast Region and first in the Mid-American Conference. Gali also hold two additional regional rankings: third in 400m and third in the 4X400 alongside teammates Treyvon Mask, Mitchell Moore, and Ryan Billian.
The Bulls are hoping to have an even more successful weekend at the upcoming competition. With Indoor MACs only a couple weeks away, the Bulls are eager to get out there and make a mark.
