BUFFALO – Buffalo Police Department in cooperation with Mayor Byron Brown and local filmmakers are creating a short film targeting heroin use deaths.

With heroin use related deaths climbing to staggering heights Mayor Brown and BPD Captain Steve Nichols have partnered with local filmmakers to produce a short film titled “Blink of an Eye.” The film is about a typical teenage girl that falls prey to heroin addiction. The audience will be thrust into the depths of the demon drug and the people that chase it. And viewers will witness first hand the beyond-the-call-of-duty local civil servants go to save lives.

Brown said, “This short film is devastating but real life for many people; this is another way we can combat this life threatening disease in our community.”

“We understand this is a horrible look into one of the biggest killers of this century and it is uncomfortable for the viewer,” added BPD Captain Steve Nichols. “Our hope is that we can touch a life and that life be saved.”

Principal photography for the short film will be shot Monday and Tuesday on the streets of Buffalo by a local film crew that is donated their time and production equipment.
