BROCKPORT — Buffalo State touched first in 10 of 16 events on the men’s side while claiming a 167-132 victory over host Brockport, while the shorthanded women’s squad fell, 160-56.

Connor Mergler (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) captured three individual events, winning the 100 back (55.53), the 50 free (21.27) and the 100 free (47.23).  He also led off the winning 200 medley relay with Jake Brigham (Binghamton/Binghamton), Cody Wittmeyer (Boston/Hamburg) and Dan Kuznetsov (Williamsville/Williamsville South) that posted a time of 1:41.69. Kuznetsov also raced to a pair of victories in the 200 free (1:49.71) and in the 500 free (4:57.13). Tim Petranchuk (Cheektowaga/Cheektowaga) touched first in the 1,000 free, clocking 10:55.43. Tyler Minnick (Latham/Shaker) was a victor in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.13, and Anthony Humphries (Trumansburg/OMCS) was the 200 breast in 2:28.25. Wittmeyer, Kyle Callan (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta), Ryan McHale (Lancaster/Lancaster) and Kuznetsov also combined to win the 200 free relay (1:30.67). Kelly Lindner (W. Seneca/W. Seneca West) scored a win on the women’s docket on the one-meter diving board with a mark of 160.45.

Buffalo State will next compete at the SUNYAC Championships Feb. 15-18 at the Flickinger Aquatic Center in downtown Buffalo.
