EDISON, N.J. – Junior guard Matt Scott has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week for the second time in his career.

Scott averaged 18.7 points per game, 9.7 rebounds per game and 3.0 assists per game as the Purple Eagles went 2-1 in three games. Scott, who scored at least 18 points in every game, led all scorers in two of the three games while also collecting double-doubles in two games. In Niagara’s win over rival Canisius on January 23, Scott had 18 points and a season-high 12 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Against Manhattan on January 26, Scott scored a game-high 20 points for his MAAC leading 10th 20-point game of the season; he also had six rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

Scott was a key contributor in helping Niagara pull away from Rider on January 28 as he finished with a game-high 18 points and a team-high 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season and 10th of his career. Scott also scored his 1,000th career point in the game to become the 45th member of the 1,000-point club at Niagara. Scott averaged 56 percent from the field, 50 percent from 3-pointers and 82.4 percent from the free-throw line in the three games.

Scott previously earned MAAC Player of the Week honors on Nov. 23, 2015.
