UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The track and field team completed their competition at the Penn State Nationals on Saturday. The Bulls had several personal records set, and two first place finishes at the event.

The Bulls saw two first place finishes on the last day of competition. Sophomore Amy Villarini was able to take home first place in the 400m dash. She clocked in at 56.64, a new personal record for the runner. The Bulls 4X400 Relay team also took home a first place finish. Treyvon Mask, Mitchell Moore, Ryan Bilian, and Joshua Gali worked together to run to a first place finish in 3″15.27. Moore was also able to take home a third place finishing in the 400m dash. He clocked in at 49.02 on the race, missing out on second place by hundredths of a second.

The Bulls had two second place finishes, both in the field events. Daniel Normoyle hit a new indoor personal record; clearing the bar at 15′ 3.0″ in the men’s pole vault, earning him a second place finish. Ryan Cribbin also sealed a second place finish. He threw for a distance of 18.02m in the men’s shot put; while teammate Devon Patterson landed in fourth with a distance of 17.83m.

The Bulls also saw success from other field events. Joanna Hallisy and Megan Patterson had impressive performances in the women’s shot put. Hallisy threw for a distance of 14.35m, landing her in fourth place; while M. Patterson threw for a distance of 14.14m for fifth place. Laurent Dure also had a good showing at the competition. He placed seventh in the high jump, clearing the bar at 2.02m.

Cross Country Freshman of the Year, Stephanie Ward, made her track and field debut in the 3000m run at the competition. She clocked in at 9″59.96, fastest time for a freshman in program history and a fourth place finish. Caleb Covell added to the freshman successes with a seventh place finish in the men’s 3000m run; clocking in at 8:27.99, a new personal record and second All-Time freshman best in program history.

The Bulls are back in action next weekend as they head to Akron, Ohio for the Akron Invitaitional.
