NEW YORK — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has stepped into the political crossfire between President Donald Trump and thousands of protesters at JFK International Airport, coming down on the side of the protesters and the refugees they support.

Cuomo said he has directed the Port Authority, Department of State and his Councsel’s Office to explore all legal options to assist anyone detained at New York Airports.

While that includes more than just JFK, the focus of the action surrounding the ban on people entering the United States from majority-Muslim nations is currently at New York City’s largest airport for international travel.

Cuomo is not the only New York politician openly opposing the president. In recent days, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has offered tutorials to municipalities that wish to set up as sanctuary cities and threatened to fight President Trump on the issue.
