CLARENCE — A Newfane woman was charged Tuesday with unauthorized use of a vehicle after a dispute over a horse on Keller Road.

According to New York State Police, on Sunday, Virginia O’Malley went to Phoenix Rising Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation on Keller Road to retrieve her associate’s horses. While at Phoenix Rising, O’Malley’s associate was involved in a disagreement over the contract transferring the horses.  A representative of Phoenix Rising parked her vehicle in front of O’Malley’s horse trailer to prevent the pair from leaving before the dispute was settled. While the two discussed the contract O’Malley entered the employee’s vehicle and moved it, then left the area with the horses and trailer.

After a brief investigation O’Malley turned herself in on Tuesday and was issued an appearance ticket for unauthorized use of a vehicle, for Clarence Town Court.  The dispute over the horse contract was settled by the two parties involved.
