BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo’s swimming and diving team are traveling for conference meets this Friday and Saturday. The women will kick off the weekend on Friday with a meet in Bowling Green, while the men will travel to Miami (OH) on Saturday. The Bulls are coming off a very successful weekend, when swimming hosted Niagara, and the diving team hosted the UB Diving Invitational which featured UMass, UConn, Ohio University, and Niagara’s diving teams.

The swimming team dominated in the pool against Niagara; taking first in every single event at the meet and first through third in 13 different events. This meet was a unique meet for the Bulls, they weren’t swimming their normal distances, instead some distances were cut back by 50m. Coach Bashor decided to do this to keep things exciting for the team, and to help the team work on their front-end speed. Some exceptional performances were from Hannah Miller and Reid Zyniecki. Miller blew her competition away in the 800 Free, coming in first and more than 20 seconds faster than second place. Zyniecki was also a success in the 800 Free, he came in first and was more than 10 seconds faster than second place.

The diving team was also a stellar performance to watch in the diving well. They competed in a three-day invitational that consisted of the one-meter, three-meter, and platform dives. Nick Rodriguez had an outstanding performance: placing first on every dive and qualifying for NCAA Zones. Dan Roche also qualified for Zones after finishing second on the platform dive. The women were also successful this past weekend. Abbey Croce took first on the three-meter dive, and Mackenzie Moss took second on the platform dive.

The women currently hold a 10-3 advantage over Bowling Green in the All-Time Series; while the men are closely trailing Miami (OH) 8-11 in the All-Time Series.

Friday’s meet is set to begin at 3 p.m, Saturday’s meet will begin at 1 p.m.
