BUFFALO — The Univesity at Buffalo has named Jaskiran Dhaliwall and Nick Rodriguez as its athletes of the week.
Dhaliwall did well in the first track and field meet of the season. The junior from Grand Island placed fourth overall in the women’s weight throw at the Great Dane Invite with a distance of 18.13m. Her distance was a new personal best and currently ranks third in the MAC. This distance is also a MAC Auto-qualifying distance.
Rodriguez had an outstanding performance in the well this past weekend. On Friday, Rodriguez placed first on the one-meter dive with a score of 315.05. His success only grew from there, placing first again on the three-meter dive with a score of 337.55. After preliminaries on the platform dive on Sunday, the Bulls were in first through fourth, with Rodriguez in first place. The senior from Central Square, NY blew the competition away in the finals. He posted an overall score of 327.00 in the finals, over 20 points higher than second place. His scores have qualified him for NCAA Zones.
