BUFFALO — University at Buffalo track and field senior, Kaishaun Cathey, was named Mid-American Conference Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. This honor came after the first meet of the season, when Cathey broke the school record and is now ranked number one in the MAC in the triple jump.
Cathey placed first in the triple jump at the Great Dane Invitational with a distance of 15.81m. His distance surpassed his personal best by nearly two feet, and also broke the previous school record of 15.32m. His mark is currently ranked number one in the MAC.
This is the first MAC honor of the 2016-2017 season.
