BUFFALO — Natasha Steinle (Morrison, CO/CIHA) scored twice as Buffalo State skated to a 5-2 victory over visiting William Smith tonight in an ECAC West contest at the Ice Arena.

Steinle now has five goals in her last five games after going scoreless in her first eight games as a Bengal. Christine Harris (Mountain Top, PA/Wyoming Seminary) and Rachel Lenard (Orchard Park/Nardin) had a goal and an assist each, and freshman Lila Toczek (Pendleton/Starpoint) scored her first collegiate goal. Harris opened the scoring just 2:20 into the contest.  Steinle extended the lead just four minutes later, and Lenard tallied a power-play marker later in the frame push the lead to 3-0 before the first intermission.

Toczek’s marker in the middle frame extended the lead before William Smith finally got on the board in the waning minutes of the period. Steinle’s second of the game midway through the third period put the game out of reach. William Smith added a late goal to complete the scoring.
Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Arroyo) finished with 20 saves for the win as the Bengals outshot the Herrons, 28-22.

Junior Erin Gehen (W. Seneca/W. Seneca West) moved into sole possession of second on Buffalo State’s all-time scoring list, picking up an assist for her 63rd career point.

Buffalo State and William Smith will face off again Sunday at 1 p.m.
