RIVERDALE — The Niagara University womens’ basketball team will close out its New York City road trip at 2 p.m. Sunday against the 5-11 Manhattan Jaspers.

The Purple Eagles fell to reigning MAAC Champions Iona, 68-61, on Friday. Kaylee Stroemple led the Purple Eagles in both scoring and rebounding with 13 points and nine rebounds. Victoria Rampado added 12 points for Niagara and Tiffany Corselli had 11 points and went 3-for-4 from the 3-point line. Corselli also had a team-best three steals. Jamie Sherburne led the team in assists with four. Kharysma Bryant added a season-high seven points and Adila Gathers recorded a career-high four rebounds.

Redshirt-junior forward Rampado leads the Purple Eagles in scoring with 16.1 points per game and in rebounding with 8.1 rebounds per game. Rampado is second in the MAAC in rebounding and fourth in scoring. Junior forward Stroemple and senior guard Corselli also average in double figure scoring. Stroemple averages 12.4 points per game and Corselli averages 10.1 points per game. Stroemple has the second-best field goal percentage in the MAAC; she is 80-for-146 for a percentage of 54.8. Niagara leads the MAAC in 3-point field goal percentage; the team is 103-for-286 (36.0%) and is third in the MAAC in overall field goal percentage (40.5%).

Junior guard Amani Tatum leads the Jaspers in scoring, averaging 11.0 points per game. She leads the MAAC in assists with 4.8 per game and is second in steals with 3.2 steals per game. Tatum has missed Manhattan’s last three games due to an ankle injury. Kayla Grimme, a junior center, leads the team in rebounding with 6.6 rebounds per game, which ranks her ninth in the MAAC. Grimme is tied for first in the MAAC in blocked shots with 1.8 blocks per game and is second in free throw percentage; she is 35-for-43 for a percentage of 81.4. Overall, the Jaspers have the third-most blocked shots in the MAAC; the team averages 3.6 blocks per game.

The Purple Eagles return home on Wednesday when they host Canisius at 7 p.m. for the teams’ first Battle of the Bridge game of the season.
