BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo’s swimming team were a dominant force in the pool on Saturday; taking first place in every single event over Niagara.

The men and women took first in every single event, and first through third in thirteen different events. The women’s 200 Medley Relay team consisting of Gloria Melofchik, Eve Kosten, Rachael Bertini, and Cristina Czyrka finished in 1:45.25 for a first place finish. Not far behind them was the second and third place teams from Buffalo with times of 1:47.31 and 1:49.80, respectively. The men took first and second in the 200 Medley Relay with times of 1:33.06 and 1:36.08, respectively. The first place team consisted of Joseph Puglessi, Garrett Clarke, Andrew Cole-Goins, and Itai De La Vega. The 200 Free Relay team of Julia Box, Katelyn Burns, Saoirse Palu-Benson, and Megan Burns clocked in at 1:37.15 for a first place finish. The men’s 200 Free Relay team also took first with a time of 1:26.22; this team consisted of Martin Leigh, Callum Liddiard, Charles Barry, and Eric Jensen.

Hannah Miller was a performance to watch. The junior from Fort Wayne, IN was light-years ahead of her competition in the 800 Free. She clocked in at 8:19.13, more than 20 seconds faster than second place finisher, Victoria Butler from Buffalo. Reid Zyniecki from Buffalo also did well on the 800 Free, he finished in first place with a time of 7:31.62; more than 10 seconds faster than teammate Charles Barry.

The Bulls other first place finishers were Catherine Schultheis in the 150 Free (1:23.36), Eric Jensen in the 150 Free (1:13.44), Andrea Ernst in the 50 Free and 150 Back (24.42 and 1:31.87, respectively), Hudson Carroll in the 50 Free and 150 Back (21.37 and 1:19.68, respectively), Sarah Baxter in the 100 IM (58.68), Scott Huang in the 100 IM and 400 Free (51.79 and 3:38.68, respectively), Julia Box in the 150 Fly (1:28.88), Mason Miller in the 150 Fly (1:20.46), Katelyn Burns in the 100 Free (53.70), Zyniecki in the 100 Free (47.25), Megan Burns in the 400 Free (3:58.24), Anna Vitolins in the 150 Breast (1:44.21), and Garrett Clarke in the 150 Breast (1:28.72).
