Senior JoAnna Smith had her best week of the season against two of the favorites in the MAC this season. Smith averaged 20.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals while averaging 35.5 minutes. On Wednesday, Smith went off for a season-high 29 points on 9-for-21 from the floor, 5-for-12 from three point range and 6-for-6 at the charity stripe, all season-highs. With her sixth point of the game, Smith became the 23rd player in UB women’s basketball history to surpass 1,000 career points. On Saturday, Smith finished with 11 points and two steals on the road at Central Michigan. Smith currently sits in fourth place on UB’s all-time three point charts with 151 career triples while also leading the team in scoring for the second straight season (13.6 PPG). The senior has hit at least one three pointer in 48 of her last 50 games.

Jason Estevez earned a pair of first period pins to go 2-0 over the weekend in wins against Columbia and Sacred Heart. Estevez needed only 1:08 to pin Jacob Macalolooy, a 10-win wrestler from Columbia, on Saturday. On Sunday, the Bulls’ redshirt-junior recorded two take downs and a 4-point near fall before pinning Adrian Nelson 1:40 into the match. Estevez has now won three straight dual matches.
