
MACHIAS — A dispute over snowblowing Wednesday night on McKinstry Road ended with gunshots and a 56-year-old male in Cattaraugus County Jail.
According to New York State Police, Troopers responded to the home for a reported neighbor dispute and found that Albert W. Howard had gotten into a verbal and physical altercation with a neighbor regarding snowblowing. At some point during the argument, Howard retrieved a shotgun and shot the tires out of his neighbors vehicle with the neighbor sitting inside of it.
Howard was arrested and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in the Town of Machias Court and remanded to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
