While Buffalo State’s men’s and women’s basketball teams each got in games since the college went on winter break in mid-December, it was a quiet period of time for Bengal Athletics as a whole over the past month.

Buffalo State teams return in full force this weekend, as men’s and women’s hockey and men’s and women’s basketball each have two games apiece for a total of eight Bengal contests over Friday and Saturday.

Here’s the complete rundown of what is coming up for Buffalo State athletics this weekend:

Men’s Hockey

Buffalo State men’s hockey team is headed to Boston to take part in the inaugural Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 6-7 at Warrior Ice Arena.

The Bengals (9-3-1) enter the weekend as the No. 10 team in the country in both the D3Hockey and USCHO national polls.

Buffalo State has won nine of its past 11 games (including four of its past five), which included a 5-1 victory over No. 1 Oswego on Dec. 10.

Goaltender Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling/Pawling) leads all of Division III with a .964 save percentage and is second in the nation with a 1.00 goals against average.

Anthony Passero (Fort Erie, ON/Lakeshore) leads the Bengals with 15 points (five goals, 10 assists).  Taylor Pryce (Newmarket, ON/Cardinal Carter) and Zach Nieminen (Ajax, ON/Notre Dame CSS) are tied for the team-lead with six goals.

Buffalo State kicks off the tournament against Becker College on Friday at 5 p.m.
