CHEEKTOWAGA — The Cheektowaga Police has recently installed a prescription drug drop off box and sharps collection box in the lobby of Police Headquarters located at 3223 Union Road, Cheektowaga.

The purposes of the boxes are for residential drop offs only. The boxes will be monitored by police department personnel and via cameras. The Prescription Drug Box will accept prescriptions, prescription patches, prescription medications, prescription ointments, over-the-counter medication, vitamins, samples, and medications for pets. The Sharps Box will accept needles and syringes only.

The program is being run by Lt. Brian Coons and the Community Crime Prevention Office of the Cheektowaga Police Department in conjunction with Erie County Health Dept. and New York State who have designated the Cheektowaga Police Department as a medication and sharps disposal site.
