BRANT — Three people were charged Thursday morning with criminal possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop on Southwestern Boulevard.

According to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle around 2 a.m., finding that the vehicle operator did not have a valid license. A subsequent search of the vehicle and its occupants discovered six packets of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Twenty-one-year-old Amber Riggs of Randolph and 24-year-old Julio Cirino of Dunkirk were both charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. The driver, Rafael Gonzalez, 29 of Dunkirk, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, and two separate vehicle and traffic law violations.

Cirino and Gonzalez are held at the Erie County Holding Center on $2,500.00 bail each and Riggs was released on bail.
