Betty (Waterstrat) Riemer died peacefully at Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home in Clarence on December 16, 2016. She is now in the presence of the Lord singing her heart out for Him in her beautiful alto voice.

Betty leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Gerhardt, her children Debra (William) Trowbridge, Marcia (David) Webster, Tim (Kristin) Riemer, Mary (Daniel) Hahn, Sue (Alex) Knowles, and Mike Riemer, along with 18 grandchildren (including spouses) and 11 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brothers Dick (Shirley) Waterstrat and Carl Waterstrat and sister Jean Schultz, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Ruth Waterstrat and sister Phyllis Hodge.

Betty was an active member of her church, serving as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible school teacher, church secretary, and member of the senior’s group. She worked in missions, was a Girl Scout leader, child care provider, avid crafter, and family historian. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and in prayer with her Lord Jesus Christ.

The family will be present to receive friends at Bates, Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State Street, Middleport, Monday, December 26 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 27 at 11am at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, with a prior visitation at the church at 10 am. Service will be officiated by sons-in-law Rev. Dr. Daniel Hahn and Rev. Alex Knowles.
