ELLICOTTVILLE — After opening a handful of trails in late November — and then closing them again due to a warm spell — Holiday Valley is again open for business today with eight trails and four lifts operational.

The resorts ski report says, “Mother Nature is getting serious about winter! 20-28 inches fell since Thursday and it is still snowing. Snowmaking kicked into high gear on Thursday. We will open on Saturday, December 10 with 4 lifts and 6 slopes. Saturday’s lifts will be: Creekside, Cindy’s, Mardi Gras and Yodeler. Slopes will be School Haus West, Cindy’s, Snowledge, Mardi Gras, Yodeler and the Candy Cane Loop, with more lifts and slopes coming on line as we make more snow.”

Since the report was published, the resort has added the Laurel and Punch Bowl slopes to its list of open attractions.

“The 8-10 day long range forecast is colder than normal, so it looks like Santa will be good to us this year,” the report concluded.

Meanwhile, down the road at Kissing Bridge, they’re still waiting on some more snow to get up and running.
“We only received approximately 5 inches.  Guns are alive and roaring.  We will continue to make snow as long as weather permits.  We will open as soon as we possible can,” their website notes.
Three to five inches of snow is expected in Glenwood today with another one to three inches added on Sunday.
