BUFFALO — Thirty-five-year-old Felix Wilson of Portsmouth, NH, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon on Monday, before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura Higgins, who is handling the case, stated that on August 22, 2013, while riding a bicycle on East Ferry Street in Buffalo, the defendant carried a .22 caliber revolver on his person. In May 2011, Wilson was convicted of second-degree attempted robbery and is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.
The plea is the result of an investigation by the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Daniel Derenda, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Ashan Benedict, New York Field Division.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 9 before Judge Arcara.
