BUFFALO — Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority commissioners approved a $225.5 million budget for 2017 season, one which will not include a fare hike for riders.

The $222.5 million budget assumes a 2 percent increase in funding from the state as well as an increase in funding from Erie County sales and mortgage taxes.

Approximately 25 percent of the NFTA’s revenues are derived from fares collected from Metro buses and Metro Rail. Currently, the fare is $2 for a one-way ride or $5 for a day pass.
