CLARENCE — A 71-year-old Clarence man was charged Friday with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Main Street.

According to New York State Police, Troopers were dispatched for a complaint of an erratic driver. When they arrived, Troopers witnessed a vehicle swerving in and out of its lane, and then make an improper U-Turn. The driver was identified as John Pyle. Troopers report that they could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage on Pyle’s breath. Pyle failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, where his blood alcohol content was found to be .17 percent.

Pyle was released on tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Clarence Court later in the month.
