BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo wrestling team will compete in its first dual of the season on Saturday when it travels to Cornell to take on the 7th-ranked Big Red. Though only a couple hours separate the two schools, it will be the first meeting between Buffalo and Cornell since 2001.

It will be the second weekend of competition for the Bulls, who competed at the Journeyman Classic last Sunday. Buffalo went a combined 27-13, winning matches against opponents from Wisconsin, Minnesota and Ohio State to name a few. Five UB wrestlers went undefeated, including Bryan Lantry (2-0), Blake Retell (3-0), Muhamed McBryde (3-0), Austin Weigel (3-0) and Nolan Terrance (3-0).

The Bulls are looking for another successful dual meet season. Last year UB went 10-9 in duals for its most wins since the 2003-04 campaign.

Eight of Cornell’s starters are ranked in the top 20, including Gabe Dean who is the nation’s top 184-pounder. Dylan Palacio (157) is ranked second and Brian Realbuto (174) is ranked fifth.

Saturday’s match starts at 12:30 pm.
