Richard L. Jayne, 88, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016. Born in Swoyersville, PA on October 17, 1928, Richard was the son of the late Warren and Elmira (Dennis) Jayne. On July 26, 1946, Mr. Jayne married the former Margaret Grietzer. She predeceased him on December 16, 2009.

Richard served in the United States Navy, in Operation Crossroads, the 1946 atomic bomb testing at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean.  After moving to Niagara Falls, NY in 1951, Mr. Jayne was employed by the former Wurlitzer Company in North Tonawanda for nine years.  He was then employed as an installer/repairman for the former Contel Telephone Company in Sanborn, NY, where he worked for over thirty-one years, retiring in 1991.

Richard is survived by two sons, Richard (Nancy) Jayne and Warren (Lydia) Jayne; one daughter, Cathy (George) Mastrodonato; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  Mr. Jayne is also survived by one brother, Forrest Jayne and one sister, Reba Loomis.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Warren Jayne and Avis Jayne.

The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday, November 19th from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara, where a funeral service will follow visitation at 12:00 p.m.  Interment, concluding with Military Honors,  will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
