Betty Ann (Smith) Sweitzer, 70, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Monday, November 14, 2016 at her residence, while under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born on April 15, 1946 in Birmingham, AL, Betty was the daughter of the late Willie and Ruby (Feigh) Smith.

Betty came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child and attended local schools.  She earned her Associate of Arts degree from Niagara County Community College.  Throughout her career, Betty primarily worked in the medical field for various physicians.  Most recently, she was employed as a technician for Vishay Americas, Inc. Betty was work-centered and always provided for her family.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed shooting pool.  Above all, Betty loved spending time with her family.

Betty is survived by two children, Fredrick David Sweitzer and Richard William (Tanya) Sweitzer and three grandchildren, Phillip Meranto, Allan Birkmeyer and Baby, Bentley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Bethany K. Vandawalker.

The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, November 17th from 5-8 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara, where a funeral service will follow visitation at 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Betty in the form of a contribution are asked to consider a charity of one’s choice.
