The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that they have signed RHP Casey Lawrence and will give the righty an invitation to Major League Spring Training in 2017.

Lawrence (full stats) split the season between the Bisons and Double-A New Hampshire last season and was named Buffalo’s 2016 Comeback Player of the Year. In 15 starts with the Herd, Lawrence was 5-6 with a 3.83 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 87.0 innings of work. The righty posted 2.91 ERA in his final 12 starts with the team after rejoining Buffalo in July. He earned his first career Triple-A victory on July 5 against Rochester and tossed the Bisons’ lone complete game in 2016 in a defeat in Syracuse on August 2.

Lawrence was originally signed by the Blue Jays as a non-drafted free agent in 2010. He also made spot starts with the Bisons in 2013 and 2015 and is a career 5-8 with a 4.25 ERA in 17 career Triple-A starts.
