RIVERDALE — The Canisius volleyball team ended its 2016 campaign on Sunday, as the squad dropped its final contest, 3-1 to Manhattan. Canisius finishes the season with a 7-20 overall record and a 5-13 MAAC mark, while Manhattan will also miss out on postseason play with a 12-20 record and a 8-10 MAAC mark.

The Blue and Gold were able to knot the game at 1-1 after the Jaspers took the first frame, however Manhattan took control in the third, earning a 25-15 victory. Canisius pushed hard in the fourth but Manhattan denied the Griffs the fifth set, winning 25-23.

Senior Katlyn Tyler led the team in her final contest, with 13 kills to go along with 14 digs, for the double-double. Jacklyn Malusa flirted with a double-doulbe in her final match as a Griff, notching eight kills and nine digs, respectively.

Cassidy Ceriani capped her first season with the team with 32 assists and seven digs, while Donnett Hickson provided 12 digs from the libero position.

Manhattan had four players reach double-figure kills, with Milena Janjusevic pacing the team with 16. Ivana Kostic led the team with 54 assists, while Allie Yamashiro posted 16 digs for the team lead.

As a team the Blue and Gold hit .192 for the match, including a second set when the team hit .500. Manhattan bested that mark with a match average of .314.
