Roger Ashton Haseley, age 41, of Grand Island, N.Y., entered into eternal rest unexpectedly, Saturday, October 29th, 2016, at home. Ashton, as he was known to many, was born May 10th, 1975 in Lewiston, N.Y., beloved son of Richard A. (Gary Rice) Haseley of Pinellas Park, Florida and Olcott, N.Y. and Karen (Hill) Haseley of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Ashton attended area schools, including Niagara County Community College. He spent several years employed as Assistant Director of Environmental Services at a prestigious senior facility in Reading, Pennsylvania. After returning home to Western New York, Ashton worked in the environmental Services Departments of several, area facilities.

Ashton was a fantastic cook and enjoyed creating delicious, gourmet meals for his family and friends. He was an avid history buff and cherished the time he spent as a docent at Old Fort Niagara. Ashton loved nature and enjoyed hiking, especially in the Gorge, and also devoted much of his time and energy to wildlife rehabilitation. Ashton was also a talented artist and photographer.

Besides his parents, Ashton leaves to cherish his memory, his twin brother, Richard C. (Missy) Haseley; one sister, Tonya K. (Anthony, Sr.) Cunningham; his step-siblings, Alicia (Jim) Candless, Jennifer Rice, Monica (Adam) Farnham and Darlene (Edward) Foley; nephews, Jalen and Anthony Cunningham, Jasey Walker, and Logan Haseley; nieces, Tiera, Bryanna, and Aaliyah Cunningham; great-grandniece, Layla Marie White and many step-nieces and step-nephews. Also, his chosen nieces: Becca and Tricia Kerr and a chosen nephew: Christopher Yaremo, as well as many friends and extended family.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 4th from 4-7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara, where a memorial service celebrating Ashton’s life will follow visitation at 7:30 p.m. with Todd and Chimene Heyer officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to The Primate Sanctuary, 2764 Livingston Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14303 or to Old Fort Niagara Annual Fund, P.O Box 169, Youngstown, NY 14174.
