BUFFALO — The Buffalo State women’s soccer team continued its climb up the national rankings, moving up one spot to No. 18 in the latest National Soccer Coaches (NSCAA) poll released today. It is the highest ranking that the Bengals have received in school history.

The No. 1 seeded Bengals (15-1-2, 9-0-0) are getting ready to host a SUNYAC semifinal match against No. 4 Plattsburgh (11-8-0, 5-4-0) tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Coyer Field. It is the fifth year in a row that Buffalo State has made the postseason and the second-straight season the Bengals have won the regular season conference title.

Buffalo State also remained third in the East region for the fourth-straight week, trailing just William Smith College (16-0) and Stevens Institute of Technology (16-1).

William Smith was named the No. 1 team in Division III for the fourth-straight week, with Williams College, Trinity University (Texas), Thomas More, and The College of New Jersey rounding out the top five.

The winner of Wednesday’s SUNYAC semifinal will move on to the championship against the winner of Oneonta (10-5-4, 6-2-1) and Geneseo (8-2-5, 6-1-2).  If Buffalo State gets a victory, the SUNYAC championship will be held at Coyer Field for the second-straight year, due to the Bengals earning the highest seed in the tournament.
