BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo has been approved to host the 2017 NCAA Northeast Cross Country Regionals. Vicki Mitchell and the team are excited to be hosting such a large event. They held a press conference in conjunction with Daemen College (who is hosting the DII Regionals in 2017) and Visit Buffalo Niagara to promote the event.

The University at Buffalo last hosted the meet in 2011, which was the first time the race had ever been held outside of Connecticut, Boston, or New York City. The Northeast region is the largest in the NCAA with over 42 teams competing. The meet will be held at Audubon Golf Course just minutes from the North Campus. The course is spectator friendly, with various areas to view the competitors.

“We are very excited to host the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional, which brings in the very best runners in the NCAA.  I have designed a course to provide an exceptional experience for the student-athletes as well as the spectators.  And, we are able to showcase the beautiful Buffalo area to the visiting teams and families. For our student-athletes, it provides the opportunity to compete at the NCAA qualifier at home, with fan support” Mitchell said Tuesday at the press conference.

The race will be held at Audubon Golf Course on Nov. 10, 2017.
